Intense. Primal. The canyon at full power, but you must match its energy with preparation.
Summer arrives. Hot. The experienced traveler starts hikes at dawn and rests midday. Crowds are heavy. The canyon demands respect: hydration, sun protection, smart pacing.
Magic window: Dark Sky Season (Jun – Sep nights)
The longest, warmest nights of the year, warm enough to sit outside at midnight. The Milky Way arcs directly overhead. Zion is a certified Dark Sky Park, pair with Bryce Canyon’s Bortle 2 skies for the full experience.
Conditions
Weather: 100°F high / 65°F low. Intense sun. Dry early, monsoon potential by late June.
Crowds: high
