The fog is thickest in July, but the pattern is consistent — morning gray, afternoon gold. Temperatures on the coast stay mild even in peak summer. The Milky Way core is high overhead. Humpback whales feed in Monterey Bay offshore. The Perseid meteor shower peaks in mid-August — plan dark sky timing now.

Kirk Creek Campground — perched on the coastal bluff — is one of the most remarkable Milky Way viewing sites in California. Best in summer (Bortle 1–2 on the ridges above the marine layer). New moon window is non-negotiable.
